Another Tomorrow
This bursting in me I can’t see
It tightens the nerves holding pain
Shreds the filaments uplifting joy
Debris’ powder on lips that smile
Passion has never been a neighbor
Hasn’t visited for a stiff drink or tea
Desire’s lesson has been rescheduled
May never learn to pluck those strings
Planted flowers just before this drought
Raining ash slows travel on this path
Uphill burden weighed with guilt
Arduous happiness in feigned delight
Ending chapters will be charred words
Pages crumpled within hoping’s gift
Spine split and opened in night’s solace
Relive every word under another tomorrow
